Steel Building Erection

EZ Erectors supports construction for Michigan’s first public Montessori School

A groundbreaking ceremony for Traverse City Area Public Schools’ (TCAPS) new Montessori School was held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, with steel erection projected to begin in early August.

This $21.7 million project is the first public school in Michigan to be built specifically to support a Montessori program, with Miller-Davis leading construction management and EZ Erectors supporting structural steel installation.

The 86,000 square foot, two-story Montessori School will house between 500 and 550 students and serve toddlers through eighth graders. The new school will feature a pod classroom structure, science lab, art and Spanish room, a media center spanning two floors, a greenhouse, a full-size gymnasium, and music rooms, featuring 22 classrooms in total.

The new school is located on Franke Road in Traverse City and is expected to be open for learning in September of 2022. EZ Erectors’ contribution of structural steel construction is expected to take place from August 2021 through January 2022.
